INSTRUCTIONS


Preparation Steps:

  1. Place a saucepan on one burner for chili or baked beans, if applicable.

  2. Prepare Ingredients: Slice toppings like scallions, tomatoes, onions, or pickles, and set them aside.
    Open canned chili or baked beans for heating.


Cooking Instructions:

1. Cook Hot Dogs (Griddle or Grill):

  • Place hot dogs on the preheated griddle or grill.

  • Turn frequently with tongs, cooking until heated through and lightly browned (about 6–8 minutes).

  • Optional: Toast buns by placing them cut-side down on the griddle for 1–2 minutes.

2. Heat Chili or Baked Beans:

  • Pour canned chili or baked beans into a saucepan.

  • Heat over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until warmed through (5–8 minutes).

3. Assemble Hot Dogs:

  • Option 1: Top with heated chili, shredded cheese, crushed corn chips, and chopped scallions.

  • Option 2: Add sliced pickles, tomatoes, and onions to each hot dog.


Serve with Sides:

Option 1 (Chili Dogs with Coleslaw):

  • Serve the hot dogs with a side of coleslaw on a plate.

Option 2 (Classic Dogs with Baked Beans & Chips):

  • Spoon baked beans onto the plate and add a handful of potato chips.

Both Options:

  • Include ketchup and mustard on the side.

  • Add a slice or wedge of watermelon.
